Red Velvet Oreo Poke Cake

Monday, April 6, 2015

Have you seen the Red Velvet Oreos? I heard a lot of talk about how good they were, so I had to check them out. We liked them so much that I bought a second package that I used to make a poke cake. If you can't find these limited edition Oreos, just make the cake without. It's still quite delish!

red velvet cake mix
egg, oil, water as per mix directions
16 oz cream cheese (2 blocks), softened
6 TBS butter, softened
2 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
3 cups powdered sugar
can of sweetened condensed milk
Red Velvet Oreo
Prepare the red velvet cake mix according to package directions in a 9x13 dish. Let the cake cool for about 30 minutes.

While the cake is cooling prepare the frosting. Mix the cream cheese and butter until well blended. Mix in the vanilla and salt. Mix in the powdered sugar in batches. Beat all until smooth. Take just under half of the frosting and mix it in another bowl with the condensed milk. Chill the rest of the frosting.

When the cake is cooled, poke holes in the cake every inch or so with the end of a wooden spoon. Pour the cream cheese mixture slowly into the holes in the cake. Cover and refrigerate about an hour.

Top with remaining cream cheese frosting. Place 20 Oreos on top and serve. Refrigerate any leftovers.
We took the cake to an outing with friends (therefore the foil pan) and it disappeared. Everyone loved it, especially the cream cheese frosting. I liked the crunchiness that the Oreos added to the cake.

Have you tried the Red Velvet Oreos? What do you think of them?
