A few months ago we got our son a phone with Walmart Family Mobile. That smart phone was a smart decision because the service and price is great! We were unsure the service would be reliable since it was a month to month plan, but there have been no issues at all. In fact, there are some places (our best friend's house) where our big name contract phones struggle for 1 bar, but my son is receiving full data. This has convinced us that it's time to switch!
Unfortunately, I have to wait until the contract on my line is up, but my husband's line was up this month and we got to switch him. He's been using my old Iphone 4s, which isn't the fastest thing out there. In fact, we were being charged for 4G LTE, but that phone is only capable of 3G.
Walmart Family Mobile allows you to bring your own phone, but he wanted something new and fast!
We marched into the store to check out the offerings from
Walmart Family Mobile. Like our first experience, the wireless specialist that assisted us was super friendly and helpful. He had a great knowledge of the phones and was able to answer all our questions. He had us connected and out the door quickly. My husband settled on the Samsung Galaxy Avant. The Avant is on rollback from $199 to $149. My husband is thrilled with his new phone. He loves the size, but the speed is what has him really happy. He's having lots of fun testing out the apps on the phone.
His favorite app is for biking and running. He commutes to work nearly everyday of the year by bicycle, but with the arrival of spring he exercising even more. He loves having this new phone to record his run and rides. He uploads his results to Facebook at the end of the workout. He loves going through the bike stats on the app to see how fast he stacks up against other riders on the same routes. He removes the case I got him for the phone, and slips it into the armband while he exercises.
We know we are going to save with this phone. Walmart Family Mobile service is $29.88/month (for the first line) Unlimited Talk, Text & Data service plan which includes up to 500MB of 4G LTE data. We have calculated around $60-70/month over our contract. That's $720-840 a year. Yeah! That means more money for travel! What would you do with an extra $700+ a year?
